All about Jeans

Winter, summer, spring, & fall, what casual wear item can you wear in all? Do you need a hint? Try Armani, Seven, PePe, Wrangler, Levis, & Lee. These brands all have one thing in common…JEANS. Jeans became popular in the 1950's by teenagers. Some of the brands we wear today like Levis & Wrangler were at the forefront of the jean fashion revolution.

But not every fashion designer followed this thought in the 50's. Most though jeans were not appropriate for anything but for work alone and not for casual wear. People who whore jeans at times where refused service in most sit-down restaurants. It wasn’t until the 1970's that jeans were seen in a different light.

The Denim Revolution Continues
Since Brooke Shields dawned her famous “Calvin Klein’s” and declared that “she wouldn’t be caught dead in anything else but, different brands such as Seven, Rock and Republic, Armani, PePe, lee, & Baby Phat have come on the scene. And are different looks that have become popular or just or familiar style to us. The skinny jeans These long, chic and stylish jeans have become every girl’s favorite jean. When dressed up or dressed down, the skinny jean creates that stylish leggy look for those of us who want longer looking legs. This look it makes it easy to create. Paired with a long over sized baby doll tee or tailored shirt, men’s vest and stilettos, these jeans have made their way back into pop fashion once again. The boyfriend jean: This snug loose fit and rolled up at the bottom jean has become one of the hottest looks for spring and summer. I am predicting that it will continue into early fall as well. Men, don’t get upset she can wear your jeans and look better in them. Just remember to ask her to wear a little something for you under them! The ripped jean or distressed jean: This ripped, shredded or holey jean has become a good come back for some of our favorite jeans like skinny or the boyfriend look. This 80’s rocker look has made a comeback with chic styling. My favorites are YMI’s distressed skinny jean. Great look to pair with an oversized men’s shirt tied at the waist. I top it all off with my favorite fedora and a pair of oversized shades to boot. LA’s Glam totally!

Fall 2009 Review

Year after year, season after season, we see styles repeat themselves. Let’s face it; the earlier years are making a comeback! A stylistic, chic, era that combined with modesty & glam is making its way back onto the scene in fashion shows showcasing the styles for Fall of ‘09.

Think 30's & 40'stylish glam, with groundbreaking African American singers & actresses such as Lena Horne, Dorothy Dandridge, & Josephine Baker or their white counterpart Rita Hayworth, were making their mark on the world. All these women were much more than beauty & talent. When it came to style and grace, it didn't matter if they were wearing long luxurious gowns that flattered their figure or flapper’s dresses that pleased the eye, these women did it best. With pin-up hair, & long silk gloves, they carried themselves with modesty, elegance, & dynamic style. This was the era of elegance. This was the era of style. Fast forward to Paris, NY & Milan Fashion Week showcases for Fall of ‘09. It is all about the elegant lady and her gallant man. So you beautiful women out there get ready, because were talking vintage hats (cocktail & fedora's ), long collar wool peacoats worn with leather gloves, sheer & pattern gowns, and, a must have for the season, cocktail dresses with a flair. Another hit for fall will be pencil skirts, silk crinkled scarves, and silk blouses accessorized with a belt at the waist. Belts also lend a hand in dressing up dresses and dress coats. You should also keep an eye out for cashmere sweaters that can be worn over blouses and under wool jackets. As for fall for you gents out there that crave a more masculine but classic look within the same era as our elegant lady this is for you! An absolute must have this coming fall are wool peacoats or trench coats. They have an undeniable suave look that can be worn over turtle necks, accessorized with fedora hats, or worn with wool & velvet blazers, leather gloves, & cashmere jackets. This is our gallant man for our elegant lady, this is the comeback. Embrace the vintage style for Fall of ‘09. You are the comeback trend- so be a gallant man or elegant lady for she or he will never go out of style.

Hello Everyone, I am Monique Bell VP of Dealer Services for My Kid Sister Clothing Company. I am filling in for our roving reporter Natachia, who will be back next week with a fashion week wrap up. I want to talk about the children's fashions for fall that were highlighted as well during fashion month. MagicKids in Las Vegas was held which highlights all of the sellers of kids garments. So we want to give parents and update for the styles that will be hot for children this spring.

Mismatch prints- Big this spring season in dresses look for dresses with tops may not be the same pattern as the bottom.

Gingham Check - Give a uptown elegance to spring. Look for cute bright colors for spring.

Ahoy Mate!- The sailor look is back for this seasons branded kids clothing. Look for sharp navy colors mated with white, and navy blue and white stripes as well for boys. Classic Yacht club jackets are sure to make a spring hit this season.

Ruffles, please- It's great to see that our little girls will once again be dressing like little girls. Ruffles are making a comeback in a big way. Not too much though. Just enough to make a statement. I am girl!

Crayola has escaped- Color is probably the biggest thing this season in both women's fashions as well as kids. Look for a rainbow of bright color to return. Pinks, Greens, Purples and Blues, as well as the continuing popularity of Lime Green. Wether they are colored leggings under a large shirt or colored skinny jeans for kids, both will add a positive bright to your wardrobe.

Natachia will be back next week with her fashion month wrap up of all the styles and hottest runway looks.

New Year, New Beginnings

Part 1
By Natashia Gray, Fashionbeat reporter for www.mykidsisterclothing.com
Were you on Santa’s naughty list this year? If so, it’s okay because this the season we tend to be naughty to our bodies by not watching what we eat or drink or how we care for it. A little too much of a good thing cause have long term effects on your body. So with that in mind I focus on a New Year and a New Beginning. This is the time of year when everyone commits to that fad diet, or loosing weight to get ready for the summer swim suits. Since I am all about saving you money during these difficult economic times and you don’t have the salary of a celebrity I am going to give you discount secrets as well as some basic reminders.

It’s all about giving your body the nutrients it needs. First you need to look at drinking water. On average doctors say your body needs 8 glasses a day. I say up that to at least 10 glasses a day. I can’t believe I actually hear women saying they don’t like drinking water. Well guess what it comes in flavors too. So drink up. If you like me you have your choices of bottled water. The reason I drink bottled water is 1) It tastes better 2) it is convenient 3) I can be earth friendly by taking the plastic bottle to the recycling bin. I found a really neat new bottled water called Hint. For those of us who don’t care for water Hint comes in several flavors. My favorite is the peppermint. Hint has all natural essence water with no sweeteners, finishes cleanly, not sweetly, zero calories, no preservatives, and all-natural.

II am a self professed McDonald’s addict. This year I am turning a new leaf as well in my eating and snacking habits. I will be eating more natural snacks instead of those hot McDonalds fries (okay, maybe just once in a while!). I found some great snacks by Funky Monkey. Each Variety Pack Contains: 3 of each flavor (Carnaval Mix, Jivealime, Purple Funk and Bananamon) Funky Monkey Snacks are delicious, all-natural, freeze-dried fruit that crunches. Funky Monkey freeze-dries slices and pieces of real fruit using a unique process to lock in the taste, smell, and nutrients of freshly-picked fruit while adding a fun and satisfying crunch. Each 1 ounce bag contains 3 servings of fruit and there is no added sugar and no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. Funky Monkey is 100% natural and 100% delicious.
Protecting your skin is just as important as taking care of it. I have found a few great inexpensive products that you can use naturally for your skin. A couple of years ago, a close friend gave me an assortment of creams and lotions to try out. Well one of them was from L`Occitane en Provencal. It was a foot cream that to this day I love. Well Now that I am a member of the take care of you club, I love the Olive Oil products. My favorite item is Olive Luminous Body Cream and the Olive Body Milk. It always has the man in my life loving to touch my skin. Body creams are important during the cold winter when we are in and out of hot buildings. Our skin tends to dry. Nothing says AAAh like Olive Luminous Body Cream from L`Occitane. My other favorite body cream would have to be Brazil Nut Body Butter from The Body Shop. This is the best stuff for after a shower.

I will be back next week with more healthy beauty tips as well as well as more discount tips for hair. For more information check out our website, www.mykidsisterclothing.com

Welcome to Fashionbeat

Hi Everyone,

My name is Natashia Gray and I am a 24 year old fashion intern currently living in Los Angeles. My aunt who is the Vice President of My Kid Sister Clothing Company
(www.mykidsisterclothing.com) asked me to start writing a fashion blog for their company. So welcome to Fashionbeat for the Street. Since I was a kid, I have been the house fashion maven. I believe my first words were not "mama" or "dada" but Dior and Channel. My mother says that my penchant for fashion continued all through school. I chose only to wear designer labels knowing when my mom had sewn in a different label on cheaper clothing.

Now that I am a college student at a local fashion college I am learning to channel my fashion guruness into a blog where I can weekly tell you all about the fashion happenings in the place that is known for fashion, style and glam; Los Angeles.

My assistant is Cynthia Moore who will be reporting on the latest fashion for BTS 2010 and more. Watch for her posts coming soon.

So enjoy my weekly highlights into the fashion, fitness, fun and everything you wanted to know about style and the ins and outs of the fashion industry.
